Befriending Gay Neighbours

I came across a great synchroblog happening today and I want to bring your attention to it. I would love to add my two cents, but I have too much on my plate today to take part. However, I did notice that several of my friends are taking part.
Lon (Toronto) has posted “10 Thoughts for Starters” at Solar Crash
Here is another one I like. This is Brian McLaren’s contribution to the conversation.
You can see all the other blogs taking part here.
Also, here is a video from Ooze.tv that I watched just yesterday, “Loving Your Gay Neighbour – Part 1“
And, just found this . . . “Is it actually possible to live a gay lifestyle and follow Christ?” http://drewmarshall.ca/listen2009.html (Look for May 23)
And, totally unrelated . . . it’s my birthday today! If you want to wish me birthday wished, why don’t you subscribe to this blog. If I could get even just a few more subscribers, I would have over 40 subscribers and that would be a great birthday present!
See the sidebar for subscription links!

Since I can’t subscribe twice, I will just have to wish you happy birthday with words.
I am looking forward to reading/listening to the links you suggested. My problem is not that I can’t love my gay neighbor, but that I find it too easy to do so! In other words, as they carry on their perfectly loving relationship, I find it very hard to preach the condemnation I am supposed to be feeling!
Happy bday, you’re in my google reader… have been for a while.
Thanks, needed to hear this.
A good reminder that God’s love is not
just meant to be received by us, but best manifests
itself when we then share it with others, and especially
those most unlike us. Modern Good Samaritan, love that challenge.
I find it hard to understand how finding it easy to love can be a problem. Believing that we are supposed to preach prejudice against others seems to me to be more of a problem that needs addressing.
nice, thanks for the link love!
Happy Birthday Joel. Have a blessed day!!!
Lynn, I hear what you are saying. Preaching prejudice often comes from misunderstanding and that is one reason I posted the links to this discussion – so that more people will confront their own prejudices and faulty “understanding”.
Thanks Doug! Hey, I love your photos, by the way!
Anytime! Your blog is great!
Thanks!
Thanks for all the birthday wishes. The Feedburner displayed 40 subscribers for one day! (If only it would stay there instead of dropping down.)
